Teen and young Adult Therapy

Maybe your life looks good on paper, but things feel much harder on the inside than anyone could ever guess.

You might be great at keeping up with school, work, relationships, and everything else expected of you, but underneath it all, you feel like you are going to explode with anxiety, exhaustion, and constantly trying to figure out how to keep it all together. Racing thoughts, avoidance, and emotions that feel bigger and harder than they “should be” might be getting in the way of the life and the peace you wish for. If you are trying hard to understand yourself and wondering why things that seem easy for other people feel so hard for you, I would love to help you start to sort through those challenges.

I have more than ten years of experience working in schools, residential treatment settings, and therapeutic environments with teens, young adults, and families navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges. Many of my clients are struggling with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, avoidance, trauma, and neurodivergence. I work with people who are often creative, passionate, kind, and hard working, and who’ve had to learn to adapt, mask, overthink, people-please, or hold themselves to impossibly high standards in order to feel safe, successful, or accepted.

I am kind, direct, and grounded in my work with clients. I won’t judge you for the ways you have learned to cope, but I also won’t be afraid to gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to create a relationship where you feel understood enough to be honest and supported enough to try something different.

Anxiety, avoidance, perfectionism, shutdowns, people-pleasing, and difficulty with relationships often developed for a reason. Together, we can explore what these patterns are communicating, where they come from, and whether they are still serving you. In our exploration, we may use modalities such as CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, or Motivational Interviewing.

I believe that insight and practical skills can work together. Alongside exploring deeper emotional patterns and past experiences, I help young people build skills for managing anxiety, communicating their needs, navigating relationships, setting boundaries, tolerating difficult emotions, and handling the everyday challenges that can make life feel overwhelming.

For my Neurodiverse Clients

I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach. Rather than focusing on teaching you how to appear more neurotypical, I want to help you better understand how your brain works, identify what you need, and develop ways of navigating the world that feel sustainable and authentic. We can explore sensory needs, emotional regulation, social relationships, communication, executive functioning, identity, masking, boundaries, and the exhaustion that can come from constantly trying to fit yourself into expectations that weren’t designed with you in mind.

My therapy dog, Juni, often joins sessions. Juni has worked alongside me since she was a puppy and brings a gentle presence that many clients find comforting.
